Getting Ahead

 

Getting Ahead is a 9-week, 18-session class for hard-working, under-resourced people to help them improve their lives. files-photo (2)

During each class, you will:

  • take a look at your current situation and the community issues that affect you: housing, jobs, transportation
  • evaluate the resources you already have and learn about other available resources
  • learn new concepts and tools, and build new relationships that will help you makea difference in your own life and in your community

If you are someone who:

  • wants to improve your current life circumstances
  • has tried before on your own and not been successful
  • is willing to partner with middle-class individuals and organizations
  • is not currently in a crisis (homelessness, substance abuse, or mental health)

AND are willing to:

  • attend all 18 classes on Mondays and Wednesdays, March 26 –May 23, 5:30-8:00 pm
  • follow the group rules that the class helps to create
  • participate in all class activities
  • complete all exercises in the Getting Ahead workbook

Then: Getting Ahead might be for YOU!

8-10 people who apply for this program will be selected to participate. If you are selected after

an application and interview, the following will be provided to enable you to attend all 18 classes:

  • Childcare
  • Transportation to and from the classes
  • A hot meal before each class
  • A $25 Meijer or Kroger gift card at the completion of each class
